Growing up in our family was like an institution of higher learning. We had lectures, hands-on experiences, tests, unpaid internships and house parties.
Family in its broadest sense is a group of people living together under one roof. They share core beliefs, values and rules. The core or immediate family may include a spouse or spouses, parent(s), brother, sister, son and/or daughter. Extended family may include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews nieces and/or relatives.
Families by design are units that change and grow. Change is often uncomfortable. When difficulties arise, dysfunction occurs. Dysfunction is a natural occurrence. Help is needed for those who experience stress and other emotions as a result of instability.
Family circumstances in possible need of counseling are:
- Blended family
- Adopted/foster families
- Single parent household
- Extended family in transition (illness or death)
- Family in Addiction or other Mental Health Crisis
- Victims of Trauma
- Any desiring growth in any area
